Differences Between Mold Steel Cr12 and Cr12MoV

2019-08-26

Cr12 mold steelis a typical alloy tool steel, and the domestic implementation standard is GB/T 1299-2000. Cr12 mold steelis a widely used cold work mold steelwith high strength, good hardenability and good wear resistance, but poor impact toughness. Cr12alloy mold steelis mainly used as a cold die and punch, cold cutting scissors, drill sleeve, gauge, drawing die, stamping die, crepe plate, drawing die and thread rolling die which are less impact load and require high wear resistance.

Cr12 mold steel is a high carbon high chromium Leysite steel, and is also widely used in cold work mold steel, which has good hardenability, wear resistance and hot workability. Carbides are well distributed in steel and can be used to manufacture a variety of cold-working molds with complex shapes and heavy working conditions, such as cold die punches, thread rolling die, wire drawing die, material die, metallurgical powder die, woodworking cutting tools, Cold cut scissors, drill sleeves and gauges.

  Cr12 Mold Steel Chemical Composition:

  Carbon: 2.00 to 2.30

  Silicon: ≤0.40

  Manganese: ≤0.40

  Sulfur: ≤0.030

  Phosphorus: ≤0.030

  Chromium: 11.50~13.00

Nickel: Allowable residual content ≤ 0.25

Copper: Allowable residual content ≤ 0.30

  Cobalt: ≤1.00

Differences Between Mold Steel Cr12and Cr12MoV

Cr12MoV cold work mold steel is featuured by goodhardenability, quenching and tempering hardness, wear resistance. Its strength are higher than Cr12. Various cold stamping dies and tools with complex shapes and heavy working conditions, such as punching die, trimming die, piping die, steel plate deep drawing die, circular saw, standard tools and gauges, thread rolling die, etc.
