SKD11 cold work moldsteel is a high carbon chromium alloy steel with high hardness and tempering hardening effect. SKD11 material is under JIS G4404 standard. JIS SKD11 steel equivalent grades have GB Cr12MoV, JIS SKD11, AISI/SAE D3, DIN 2X165CrMoV12. SKD steel material is mainly used for manufacture of molding and stamping die blades scissors such as senior gauge and drill bar.
After quenching, residual austenite is about 13% to 20%. It can be eliminated by cryogenic treatment or tempering process. For the molds requiring both hardness and toughness, it is safer to use the hardness of HRC58 with tempering process and secondary hardening.
