A681 D2 Steel Heat Treatment A681 D2 grade is characterized by high carbon and high chromium contents. Therefore, this material owns better wear resistance than both A and O series tool steels. D2 alloy tool steel hardens with an air cool allowing minimal dimensional issues after heat treatment. The deep hardening of this alloy lends itself to long wear resistant applications like forming dies and blanking. It is heat treatable to 60-62RC. The containing molybdenum may be hardened in air and offer a high degree of dimensional stability in heat treatment.
A681 D2 Steel Heat Treatment:Preheat temperature: 1450°F( 788°C), salt bath in austenitizing temperature: 1825°F(996 °C); Austenitizing time: 5-15 minutes; quench medium: air; tempering temperature: 1025°F(552 °C); minimum hardness: 52RC.
Katalor can produce hot rolled D2 tool steel bars, forged D2 tool steel round bars, cold drawn D2 steel bars, polished D2 plates. D2 steel can delivered in annealed, hardened and tempered condition.
