Main characteristics of Cr4W2MoV:
Cr4W2MoV steel is a new type of medium-alloy cold work die steel. Its eutectic compounds are finely grained and uniformly distributed, exhibiting high hardenability and quenchability, as well as good mechanical properties, wear resistance, and dimensional stability.
Cr4W2MoV steel has relatively stable properties, and its die service life is significantly improved compared to Cr12 and Cr12MoV steels.
Chemical composition of Cr4W2MoV steel:
C: 1.12-1.25
Si: 0.40-0.70
Mn: ≤0.40
Cr: 3.50-4.0
V: 0.80-1.10
Mo: 0.80-1.20
W: 1.90-2.60
Mechanical properties of Cr4W2MoV steel:
Density (g/cm³): 7.85
Hardness: Delivery hardness (annealed): ≤269HBW. Sample heat treatment regime and quenching/tempering hardness: ≥60HRC.
Delivery condition: Delivered in heat-treated (normalized, annealed, or high-temperature tempered) or non-heat-treated condition, which shall be specified in the contract.
Cr4W2MoV steel heat treatment process:
Heat treatment specifications:
Preheating at 677±15℃, heating at 855℃ (salt bath) or 900±6℃ (furnace controlled atmosphere), holding for 5-15 minutes, oil cooling, tempering at 58-204℃.
Preheating at 677±15℃, heating at 941℃ (salt bath) or 955±6℃ (furnace controlled atmosphere), holding for 5-15 minutes, air cooling, tempering at 56-204℃.
Preheating at 820±15℃, heating at 1000±6℃ (salt bath) or 1010±6℃ (furnace controlled atmosphere), holding for 10-20 minutes, air cooling, tempering at 200±6℃.
Preheat at 790±15℃, heat at 940℃ (salt bath) or 950±6℃ (furnace controlled atmosphere), hold for 5-15 minutes, air cool, and temper at 200±6℃.
Preheat at 790±15℃, heat at 1010℃ (salt bath) or 1020±6℃ (furnace controlled atmosphere), hold for 5-15 minutes, air cool, and temper at 550±6℃.
Preheat at 790±15℃, heat at 1000±6℃ (salt bath) or 1010±6℃ (furnace controlled atmosphere), hold for 5-15 minutes, air cool, and temper at 550±6℃.
Cr4W2MoV steel is a high-performance cold work die steel, suitable for manufacturing various stamping dies, cold heading dies, blanking dies, cold extrusion dies, and thread rolling plates, among other tools and dies.
