7CrSiMnMoV is a high-performance, low-alloy cold-work tool steel widely used in precision manufacturing. Its designation reflects its key alloying elements—7% chromium, silicon, manganese, molybdenum, and vanadium—each contributing specific property enhancements.
This steel grade is renowned for its excellent hardenability and low distortion during heat treatment. After proper quenching and tempering, 7CrSiMnMoV achieves a high surface hardness (typically 58–62 HRC) while maintaining a tough, wear-resistant core. The addition of molybdenum and vanadium refines the grain structure, reduces susceptibility to temper brittleness, and improves resistance to impact and abrasive wear.
One of the most notable characteristics of 7CrSiMnMoV is its good machinability in the annealed condition, making it suitable for producing complex-shaped dies, punches, and shear blades.
